HIV and AIDS
HIV is the base virus that causes AIDS!
AIDS is a serious
condition in which the body's defences are weakened and broken
down, preventing the body from fighting off illness. This means
that people who have AIDS suffer from many illness, which a
normal healthy person can fight off quite easily.
"HIV is passed on from having sexual intercourse with an
infected person, as well as from blood"
This means that even
if you are not having sex but are a drug user who shares
needles you are at risk of catching the HIV virus.
You can
also get the virus from oral sex as exchange of fluids from
the body pass into the mouth and should you have a cut or
bleeding gums, ulcers etc then the virus can get into your
blood stream.
If someone has HIV/AIDS then you should always wear a
condom when having any form of sexual intercourse.
