Chlamydia - What's The
Truth?
The most common sexually transmitted
infection in the UK!
Chlamydia is passed on through having unprotected sex with
someone who is already infected. This includes vaginal or anal sex and can
also be passed on from sharing sex toys. Chlamydia is the
common name for this infection and is caused
by the bacterium 'Chlamydia Trachomstis'.
The bacteria can live inside the cells of the cervix, the
uretha, the rectum and sometimes the throat and eyes.
"It is a common and treatable
infection, which often has no symptoms in men or women
unless it leads to complications"
If Chlamydia is left untreated it may cause more serious
problems in the future. Chlamydia is easily treated with
antibiotics, once it been diagnosed by urine and swab tests
either by your GP or at your nearest GUM clinic, which you
will find listed in your local phone directory.
